Study: Couples Trying For Baby 'Should Have Sex Daily'

Here's a study your hubby will be quoting for the next month.

While many clinics advise couples to have sex every other day in order to get pregnant, scientists have found that regular sex can significantly improve the quality of a man's sperm.

Although the quantity of sperm declined by more than half, researchers insisted that levels stayed well within those considered necessary for fertility.

Dr David Greening, from Sydney IVF, in Wollongong, Australia, said: "Sperm don't seem to like staying in warm testicles for too long. The advice might be to keep the rivers flowing."

He added that his findings could also explain in part the problems that some couples have conceiving as they get older.

Dr Greening said that men were more likely to have sex daily when they were in their twenties than by the time they had reached their forties.

"Perhaps reproductively we are built to do it in our youth. We have been blaming women as we get older (for fertility problems) when perhaps there is also contribution from the male because we are not behaving as we should be (by having regular sex)."

Dr Allan Pacey, Senior Lecturer in Andrology at the University of Sheffield, said: "There may be dangers if we apply this finding to all men uncritically and to all situations.

"For example, in cases where men have low sperm counts to start with, daily ejaculations may well reduce the sperm count still further and whilst sperm may be more healthy the reduced numbers could impede the chance of natural conception.

However, if such men are preparing for an assisted conception procedure, this may well not matter and their chances of success may be improved."

Precious Planet Floating Activity Hippo (GIVEAWAY)

The Precious Planet floating activity hippo is a great starter toy for your little bather.

The fishy flutterball, rattling penguin, turtle strainer and whale squirter can take turns at tubtime play, or ride in the hippo’s feet. When bathtime is done, they store in the net. Easy to hang up and drip dry for next time!

I like that each of the friends are small enough for my baby to hold in his hands. He is just starting to grasp toys and explore. This hippo is perfect because the colors are bright and inviting.

My older son and I play memory with the characters in the tub. I place them in each corner and he has to repeat the order I put them in.

He also thinks that the Hippo's tummy is a basketball net and is quite good and getting the animals in from the other end of the tub.

I would recommend this as a great beginner bath toy. It's simple, but stimulating for kids of all ages.

We have 3 Precious Planet Floating Activity Hippo's to giveaway.

gDiaper Introduces Cloth Inserts For Use With gPants

Hybrid diaper company gDiaper has introduced washable cloth inserts called gCloths for their gPants.

Original gDiapers, consist of a washable, cotton outer little gPant and a plastic-free biodegradable diaper gRefill. They are made of breathable material just like sports clothing. So, babies stay dry and happy and are far less likely to get diaper rash.

The new washable re-fills are made of two layers of soft 100% polyester microfleece wick moisture away from baby's bottom keeping it feeling dry and comfortable. Two layers of hemp/cotton absorb wetness and hold moisture in.

Hemp in particular becomes more absorbent with use so the more you wash gCloth inserts, the softer and more absorbent they become.

For optimum softness, absorbency and sizing, gDiapers recommends that you wash the gCloth inserts at least six (6) times before using in hot water and tumble dry on medium heat. They say to expect some shrinkage in length.

Like all cloth diaper products, the gCloth inserts will become softer and more absorbent the more you wash them.

Study: Women The Happiest At 28

Home hair colour brand Clairol Perfect 10, recently carried out the study of 4,000 women to gage our happiness at different stages of our lives. Researchers discovered women feel most confident and happy with their love life and body shape shortly before they reach 30.

It is also the period in their life when they enjoy the best sex – but the happiness is relatively short lived.

Because by the time they have turned 30 they start worrying about growing old and developing grey hair and wrinkles.

A spokesman for the company said: "Everything in life hits its peak at some point, and nearly reaching your thirties isn't so bad now.

"The age of 28 has been pinpointed as the time in a woman's life their hair looks the best, body shape is at its peak and confidence is at an all-time high.

"The security of your job, having a steady income, being in a relationship and having strong friendships all help create the perfect point in our lives when everything comes together.

"Reaching and surpassing your twenties no longer triggers the downward spiral of your looks and self-confidence.

"And a little time put aside in hectic schedules for self-pampering and the odd beauty product can help keep you feeling young and looking your best."

The survey of 25-65 year olds recorded the age at which women were most content in 12 key areas of their life.

According to the results:

  • women are happiest in their career at 29
  • most content with their relationships one year later at 30, despite having the best sex at 28
  • they most content with their financial situation at 33
  • at ease with their home and family life at 32
  • two thirds of women feel they age more quickly than men, and the women polled rated their appearance a measly five out of 10
  • women spend over five days a year on their beauty routine – an average of 22 minutes every day
  • 56 per cent of women worry about losing their looks as they get older

But drinking from the fountain of youth doesn't come cheap as the average woman will spend $1000 every year, or more than $70 a month, on beauty products in a bid to stay looking young.

Psychologist Corinne Sweet added:

"Having a good hair day is essential to success both at work and in love, as many women still feel their hair is their crowning glory

"Considering it was found that women have six bad hair days a month, anything women can rely on to improve their hair at home, in the minimum of time with guaranteed results can mean a huge lift in well-being, confidence and self-esteem.

"This can help women feel they are in the driving seat in their lives, despite the challenging times of modern life and always being on the go."

Do you agree with these results?

Madonna Gives Mercy A Lift in London

Mercy was flown to London last week to be united with her new mom, who had battled for two years until the adoption came through June 12.

Madonna, 50, dressed in casual weekend clothes -- ripped jeans, a long-sleeve white T-shirt, tinted shades and a checkered pageboy cap -- was spotted leaving the kabbalah center 10 minutes after ex-husband Guy Ritchie departed.

Brazilian Student Creates 3D Models Of Unborn Babies

Expectant couples that are too excited to wait can now commission a life-size model of their unborn baby.

The amazing new medical technology is the result of a Royal College of Art design student's PhD.

Brazilian student Jorge Lopes has pioneered the conversion of data from ultrasound and MRI scans into life-size plaster models of living embryos using a method called rapid prototyping.

'It’s amazing to see the faces of the mothers. They can see the full scale of their baby, really understand the size of it,' said Dr Lopes.

'The technology can be also be used as an emotional tool for parents whose foetus might be deformed or need treatment,' added Hilary French, who heads the School of Architecture and Design Products.

King's College head of obstetrics Stuart Campbell, called the invention 'absolutely unique' and 'a fantastic development'.

Professor Campbell, who pioneered the use of ultrasound in the 1980s, also hoped the technology would help mothers - blind mothers in particular - to bond with their babies.

Update: Newborn found in Shoebox in Lobby of Long Island Apartment Building

Last Sunday night a newborn was found abandoned in a shoe box in the lobby of a Long Island Apartment Building.

The tiny baby, who was less that a day old, still had the umbilical cord attached to the baby and tied off with dental floss.

Yesterday police arrested the newborn's mom. She has six other children, ages 8 and younger, and admitted to being addicted to cocaine during this pregnancy.

Xiomara Gamez, 24, who worked as a prostitute to support her drug habit, was afraid to go to a safe haven because of her undocumented status, police said. She moved from El Salvador 13 years ago.

At a news conference in Mineola, Det. Lt. Raymond Cote said Xiomara gave birth to a healthy baby girl in the basement of an abandoned house in Hempstead just after 1 a.m. Saturday.

She named the baby Pearl and left her at an apartment building where she knows Hispanic families live. Coverage of the story led to a tip from a man in Queens.

This story just gets worse with every piece of information that is released. I pray that a good family adopts this baby and never tells her about her crappy beginning.

After delivery, some babies who were regularly exposed to cocaine before birth may have mild behavioral disturbances. As newborns, some are jittery and irritable. They may startle and cry at the gentlest touch or sound. These babies may be difficult to comfort and may be described as withdrawn or unresponsive. Other cocaine-exposed babies “turn off” surrounding stimuli by going into a deep sleep for most of the day. Generally, these behavioral disturbances are temporary and resolve over the first few months of life.

Mom Mistakenly Leaves Baby On Train

A Chicago mom lived her worst nightmare earlier this week when she was forced to leave her 10 month old baby on the train after her 3-year-old bolted.

The woman’s 3-year-old bolted out the open doors and she went after him, then turned around to see the doors close and the train take off north towards.

She then immediately called police who called ahead, met the train and recovered the baby, who was unhurt.

Another passenger, who was waiting at the station, said conductors held up the train until police arrived.

"They went on board and brought the baby off in a stroller. The baby was awake and alert, just looking around, nice and peaceful," he said.

He said he initially feared the baby, which was in a stroller with "Pampers and other supplies" had been abandoned and said he was glad everything turned out OK.

The baby was handed over to the mother and she went home.

Everyone in the situation should be commended for their quick thinking.

Even though this mom made the right choice running after her toddler, no one ever wants to be put in the predicament of having to choose. Disaster was bound to happen either way.
