Alessandra and Her Family Enjoy A Beach Break in Maui!

Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, her fiance Jamie Mazur and their daughter Anja Louise enjoy a family vacation on the beaches of Hawaii.

Alessandra, wearing a cream colored bikini, and Jamie went snorkeling while daughter Anja played in the sand with their nanny. The family spent about an hour swimming in the warm water, building sandcastles and hanging out in the sun.

While many would say that her shape is perfect, the model mama recently told Fox news she misses having the more rounded tush she gained while pregnant.

“I wish I had a bigger butt. A little bit more booty wouldn’t hurt. When I was pregnant I had a much bigger booty and I was very happy with it."

Baby Doing Well After Open Heart Surgery

Four month old baby, Tayla Geddes is recovering after undergoing open heart surgery. She was born with three holes in her heart and a missing septum.

Doctors at Randburg's Sunninghill Hospital performed a six hour operation, opening Tayla's chest and inserting three patches to repair the defects in her heart. After the Doctors closed her chest her blood pressure drop drastically. Doctors were forced to re-open it to reduce swelling in her body and heart. After surgery Tayla was put on a respirator in the intensive care unit at Sunninghill hospital. Where the swelling in her heart and body decreased and her heart began functioning on its own, which allowed surgeons to re-close her chest on Wednesday morning (July 28).

Though Tayla's surgery was a success, she is not out of the woods yet. She is already scheduled to return to the hospital for surgery in two weeks. The second surgery will correct a birth defect in her sphincter value (which will prevent her stomach contents from flowing up into her esophagus). As a result of the defect Tayla is suffering from reflux and is fed through her nose. Father Peter Hamberger and mother Heather Geddes are going through a stressful time worrying about the health of their baby girl but take comfort in the success of the first surgery and that she is home. - Jeff, Staff Writer

Cybex Solution X-fix Booster Seats Recalled

Certain Cybex Solution X-fix model booster seats are being recalled because they contain an incorrect warning label. The recalled seats were manufactured during February 2010.

The defect consists of an incorrect warning statement related to securing an unoccupied booster seat. This statement is inconsistent with Cybex recommended practice, which is to always secure an unoccupied booster with the vehicle seat belt.

If a caregiver follows the warning as written, there is an increased risk that the unoccupied booster seat could strike a vehicle occupant and cause injury in a severe crash.

The incorrect warning statement appears in the owner's manual and on the headrest warning label. In a sharp turn, crash, or sudden stop, an unsecured booster seat can be thrown around and could injure vehicle occupants.

Regal Lager will notify caregivers and provide a new label to be affixed over the old label and owners will also receive a new owners manual free of charge. The safety campaign is expected to begin on or about August 10, 2010.

Owners may contact Regal Lager toll-free at 1-800-593-5522 between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm EST. Regal Lager's recall campaign number is 2010-01.

Emily Procter Is Expecting!

Exciting news for CSI: Miami” star Emily Procter.  The actress and her musician/producer boyfriend Paul Bryan have announced that they are expecting their first child together!

The mom to be, who stars as Calleigh Duquesne, on the popular CBS drama confirmed her pregnancy to E! News and revealed her baby bump will not be part of her crime show’s upcoming season.
“They’re not writing it in,” the blonde beauty told the website. “I don’t know why, except they said that maybe the audience would worry about Calleigh running around with her gun. Like, ‘Oh! It’s not safe!’ It’s gonna be a challenge, I think, for us to cover it, ‘cause I still have a ways to go.”

Emily, however, had a few ideas of her own regarding how to hide her blooming belly.
“What should I do? Should I hide behind Horatio (David Caruso)? Maybe a body? An ambulance?” she laughed.

The actress also revealed that she knows the sex of the baby, but the couple is “keeping it a secret.”

As for names, Emily said she and Paul have each thrown a couple names out there, but nothing that works for either So they've quit talking about it.

Hopefully that will change as her due date gets closer.  Congratulations to the couple.  We look forward to seeing how they are able to hide the pregnancy this Fall!

Marriott Introduces 'Nickelodeon Your Stay'

While going on vacation is exciting, staying in a hotel can be overwhelming for kids because it lacks the comforts of home.

Starting July 1st, familes can arrange to "Nickelodeon Your Stay" at nearly 2,000 hotels with the Marriott brands. The luxury hotel chain is offering all kids free activities including a Nickelodeon bracelet with a code to access free online games at Nick.com, and an activity book with challenging puzzles and mazes.  Kids who eat at the hotels' restaurants also receive a placemat featuring favorite Nickelodeon characters, SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer.

To get an idea of what a 'Nickelodeon Your Stay' would be like, Marriott sent us one of their kid's packages to see.  Available as an upgrade package at several of Marriott's brands, including Courtyard, Fairfield Inn & Suites, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites locations for $10, this fun filled bag includes a SpongeBob activity bag and splash ball, Nickelodeon sunglasses, and a 3-D build-your-own SpongeBob craft. The package costs $20 at Marriott and JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts and kids get all the above items and a special SpongeBob SquarePants or Dora the Explorer pillowcase and storybook.

This well thought out package is a great way for kids to customize their own vacation.  Having their own pillowcase and storybook is nice for bedtime, while the included bag, sunglasses and splashball will make pool time a blast.

Even though we aren't on vacation my boys have loved this whole pack.  The pillowcase is now the center of my son's bed, the sunglasses never come off and the story has been in the nightime rotation since it arrived.

Not only will this be great while your away, but it would be a souvenir that would last for years after!

Visit www.nickelodeonyourstay.com for more information on the promotion and to start booking. This site also has free, downloadable, Nickelodeon themed travel games under the free goodies section, including a travel journal, travel bingo and coloring sheets.

*This review was written as part of a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Marriott and received a Nickelodeon gift pack to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate*

Featured Review: Milk Nursingwear

I have been breastfeeding, with a few minor interruptions, for more than five years. One thing that I have come to appreciate beyond words is really good nursing wear. It’s great when it’s functional and made well enough to last more than a few months. It’s even better when it looks great too. Milk Nursingwear offers all that and more.

I have had the good fortune to find Milk as I’m nursing child number four. My only regret is that I didn’t have Milk sooner. I love everything about Milk, love, love, love. The line offers tops, dresses and some very cute sleepwear.  The styles are really terrific. No dowdy, frumpy or utilitarian tops here. The are all quite stylish and come in a variety of lovely colors. Too many companies seem to think that if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding that you suddenly have a need to dress in baby blue or pale pink. Personally I have never had that need, so I am thrilled to find grown up colors that I am happy to wear every day.

Designed by a mother of four, these clothes are not only attractive, but very functional. There are several styles of nursing openings, such as empire, wrap top openings and double-layer, which pulls up from the bottom. All are so well styled that you will not feel like you’re going out in a nursing top. You will feel like you’re going out in a nice top that makes it easier to nurse, especially if you’re a bit iffy about nursing in public. Even one good well designed nursing top or dress will make it easier for you to nurse in public, since you don’t have to worry about what you’re lifting or unbuttoning, what’s showing and getting it all closed back up again, especially when you have a looky-loo baby that is popping off more than on. If you feel the need to be discreet, Milk tops make it very easy. For example, the Empire tops have an internal wrap-styled layer that makes it easy to keep as much as possible covered up. I personally don’t worry very much about being discreet, but these tops are also great if you feed your baby in a carrier, which I do much of the time. The empire and wrap styled openings are perfect if you spend much of your day wearing your baby.  Another plus with the Milk line, several of these styles could easily be worn while pregnant, so, not only do you get a bit more mileage out of them, you can feel just as great while pregnant as you do while breastfeeding. If you happen to find yourself pregnant and nursing, as I have three times, Milk will make you very happy.

I tried out both the sleeveless babydoll nursing top (currently $34.99) in spring green and the flirty halter dress ($46) in teal. Both are amazing. Gorgeous colors, super comfortable, look great, well made and so functional. My 5 year old son loves both. He said they are very pretty and that I should wear the princess top and ballerina dress all the time. If they can even please a 5 year old who wants his mommy to be pretty, I think that’s pretty good. Both could easily be worn while pregnant and would look great. You can see the dress on a pregnant model on the Milk site. Both are also very flattering for postpartum wear since they are not super snug, but still hang nicely as you get smaller. I am eight months postpartum now and I love them both. I was a little nervous about the dress at first, but once I put it on I was sold. It has a built in shelf bra which can hold nursing pads and the empire opening, yet nobody will know you’re wearing a nursing dress unless you want them to know.

The better your nursing wear makes you feel and the easier it makes your day- whether it’s feeding at home or on the go- the more likely you are to continue breastfeeding for as long as possible. And that is really what is most important. The quality, styling and functionality are all top-notch. Even better, the prices are excellent compared to many lines of nursing wear. And with Milk, what you get for the price is more than worth it. If you’re looking for nursing wear that will make you feel as good as it works, look no further than Milk. - Kiersten, Staff Writer

Premature Baby Quadruplets Reunitedmul

Much to their parents delight, a set of quadruplets, who were born in January, have been re-united at home after being separated to receive medical care at birth.

Gillian Holden a thirty five year old mother of one (Abbie) defied odds of 750,000-1 and naturally conceived the set of rare quadruplets. Doctors at the St Mary’s Children’s Hospital in Manchester, we’re forced to perform an emergency c-section just 28 weeks into the pregnancy when Gillian’s kidneys and liver started to fail and she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.  Identical triplets, Bethany, Millie and Ellie arrived first weighing a mere 1lb and 15oz.,  2lb and 2oz., and 1lb and 7oz. respectively. Their sister Lucy, who was separated from her sisters inutero by just a thin membrane, was born last and weighed 1lb and 14oz.

Due to medical complications the babies were immediately separated at birth and placed in incubators. Lucy the last born was the first sister discharged from the hospital in May. Her two sisters Bethany and Millie, who struggle with a disease common in premature babies called chronic lung disease, were released home in June, requiring oxygen. Ellie who was also diagnosed with chronic lung disease was the last to be reunited with her sisters in July, after receiving further treatment to help cure her sleep apnea.

Abbie, 9 is ecstatic that her sisters are finally home. She is already talking about being a big sister and unconditionally loving them even if they borrow her clothes without asking and use her makeup.

Parents Gillian and Marc are relieved that their family is finally together after six long months of being separated and that the new additions are happy and healthy. - Jeff Staff Writer

The trioBike is another incarnation of the bicycle plus child carrier, but instead of a trailer being pulled behind the bicycle, in the trioBike the carrier is in front and part of the bicycle. The trioBike adds another dimension in family transportation, as the carrier can easily be removed to allow the carrierbike to be transformed into a bicycle and separate stroller.

The carrier portion comfortably fits two children up to 9 years old. Seats are padded in a stain resistant fabric and a 5-point safety harness keeps children secure. A wind, sun, and rain resistant hood with large viewing window in the front and back can be unfolded to shield kids from inclement weather, or collapsed back for milder days.

Kid Tested: Pop On Pals!

Pop On Pals are a new world created by Spin Master.  This community of pals features pets, vehicles and playsets with endless mix'n match 'Popabilities'.

To help launch this new line we were asked to test run the Ultimate Amusement Park Playset($34.99) and it was a hit.

While this brightly coloured carnival of lights and sound has 5 different play points, my boys were very interested in the rollercoaster. The two of them spent over an hour taking turns running the car up and down the track with the pop on pal riding in the car the whole time. It is nicely designed to fit into the track so that it makes it the whole way down without falling over the side.  It wasn't until I sat down to play with them that they realized that there was a musical Ferris wheel and some games for their pal to play with.

For my older son, the set encourages imaginative play as he moves his pal around the carnival.  My youngest son is still getting the hang of how to play so for him the pals are perfect for putting in the Ferris wheel and Dragon boat while pushing them down and watching them pop.   Because they both like cars, the Back to School Bus would be the perfect addition to the set along with a couple more characters like the pet packs.

For parents, Spin Master does a great job of offering a a line of toys that sit in all price points, making Pop on Pals a great gift idea.

This whole line will no doubt he a hit this Holiday Season!

The only thing I would like to see is another character added so that there are a couple pals to play with right out of the box.

Christina Applegate Debuts Her Bump!

An expectant Christina Applegate walked the red carpet the Los Angeles premiere of "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore" held at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in LA yesterday.

The actress, who announced she is expecting last week, told reporters that she has been hungry for obscure treats at unconventional hours lately.

She told ETonline: "Am I getting cravings? Everything, I'm craving everything. Besides avocados, just weird things at weird hours. Food. Food's a craving!"
While she wouldn't reveal how far into the pregnancy she is, the Samantha Who? star did confirm everything is going well.
She said: "That is for me to know - I'm somewhere between zero and nine months. How's that? Does that answer questions? "I feel OK ... I feel great."

Christina is also adamant she will continue to wear high heels as her bump expands - because the added height balances out her growing tummy.
She quipped: "I have to always wear heels, because as we grow out width ways, we need to grow up this way. They offset the impending growth of width!"

An Infant Death Prompts Recall of 30,000 Nap Nanny® Recliners Due to Entrapment, Suffocation and Fall Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Baby Matters LLC, of Berwyn, Pa., is announcing the voluntary recall of 30,000 Nap Nanny® portable baby recliners. CPSC is investigating a report of a 4-month-old girl from Royal Oak, Mich. who died in a Nap Nanny® that was being used in a crib. According to preliminary reports, the infant was in her harness and found hanging over the side of the product, caught between the Nap Nanny® and the crib bumper.

CPSC and Baby Matters are aware of one other incident in which an infant became entrapped when the Nap Nanny was used in a crib, contrary to the product instructions. In that incident, the infant fell over the side of the Nap Nanny®, despite being harnessed in, and was caught between the baby recliner and the side of the crib. The infant sustained a cut to the forehead.

CPSC and the firm have received 22 reports of infants, primarily younger than 5-months-old, hanging or falling out over the side of the Nap Nanny® despite most of the infants being placed in the harness. One infant received a bruise as a result of hanging over the side of the product.

Infants can partially fall or hang over the side of the Nap Nanny® even while the harness is in use. This situation can be worse if the Velcro™ straps, located inside the Nap Nanny® cover are not properly attached to the "D"-rings located on the foam, or if consumers are using the first generation model Nap Nanny® that was sold without "D"-rings.

In addition, if the Nap Nanny® is placed inside a crib, play yard or other confined area, which is not a recommended use, the infant can fall or hang over of the side of the Nap Nanny® and become entrapped between the crib side and the Nap Nanny® and suffocate.

Likewise, if the Nap Nanny® is placed on a table, countertop, or other elevated surface and a child falls over the side, it poses a risk of serious head injury. Consumers should always use the Nap Nanny® on the floor away from any other products.

The Nap Nanny® is a portable recliner designed for sleeping, resting and playing. The recliner includes a foam base with an inclined indentation for the infant to sit in and a fitted fabric cover and a three point harness. The first generation model of the Nap Nanny® can be identified by the absence of "D"-rings in the foam base. In second generation models, the harness system has "D"-rings in the foam base and Velcro™ straps inside the fitted fabric cover.

Consumers with a first generation Nap Nanny® models, without "D"-rings, should stop using the recalled baby recliners immediately and contact the firm to receive an $80 coupon towards the purchase of a new Nap Nanny® with free shipping. Consumers with a second generation Nap Nanny® model, with "D"-rings, should immediately stop using the product until they are able to visit the firm's website to obtain new product instructions and warnings. Consumers will also view an important instructional video to help consumers ensure the harness is properly fastened. Consumers who are unable to view the video or new instructions online, should contact the firm to receive free copies by mail. For more information, contact Baby Matters toll-free at (888) 240-4282 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm's website at www.napnanny.com/recall

Featured Review: Bumbleride Flite

The Flite ($249) is Bumbleride's entre in the lightweight stroller market.  Weighing just 13lbs, it is one of the most full featured lightweight strollers we have ever tested making it a great choice for parents who are constantly on the go. This compact stroller may by tiny, but it is mighty.

Out of the box, all the Flite needed was for me to pop on the wheels and canopy.  In less than 5 minutes I was up and going. To open it, there are two levers on the side that unlock it.  Once open just give the stroller a shake and lock the two levers(bottom by the shopping basket and top by the handles) in place to get going.

The Flite offers a lot of features for a stroller in the lightweight category.  It's ability to hold an infant car seat  or carry cot makes it a great choice from birth to 4 (or 50lbs!).  For safety and comfort, the spacious seat comes with an easy to adjust 5 point harness and head hugger.  The seat, which measures 14" wide and 27" from seat to canopy, reclines almost flat to accommodate a sleeping baby with a lever that can be adjusted one-handed at the back of the stroller.

The material Bumbleride uses to cover the seat is both soft and machine washable.  If something happens that the seat gets dirty, the whole thing comes out in just minutes for easy cleaning, which I love!

For sun protection, the canopy is not the biggest we've seen but it's durable.  It is double lined with a water resistant material on the inside to prevent rain or snow from coming through and features a zipper for better airflow on hot days, a peek-a-boo window and storage for keys or a cell phone.

During our test I took the Flite to the park, mall and around our neighbourhood.  It manoeuvres quite nicely in crowded areas and would be perfect for going to the market, an amusement park or on vacation. Bumbleride uses 8 - 5.5" wheel with dual front and rear suspension to give it it's very smooth ride.   The ergonomic handles are not adjustable but they are 40" from the ground, which on par with many others in this category.

Like many lightweight strollers, the Flite offers basic storage(12"x13") under the seat.  While it's not big enough to hold a large diaper bag, it is perfect for holding a jacket, some snacks and a diaper clutch.

A highly recommended addition to the Flite is the optional carrycot.  This beautifully designed bassinet accommodates an infant perfectly from birth to 19lbs.  It arrives flat but can be quickly popped in place in just seconds, making this lightweight stroller a full travel stroller.  Two latches on either side secure it in place facing you with an included canopy attached to keep the sun off your baby.  Also included with the carrycot is a cover to protect your baby and a stroller liner that doubles as a footmuff when pushing the flite with an older child.  This is a great bonus for parents who use their strollers daily year round.  Also offered as additional accessories are the Jam Pack, an insolated shoulder bag for all of your essentials and a Snack Pack, a soft pouch packaged with its own adapter bar for easy access to snacks while out and about!

To keep the stroller closed, Bumbleride uses a puzzle lock(on both sides) that fits together to keep it shut when folded.  This system is not only convenient, but it is effective. Once folded, this Flite is super compact measuring just 9" wide.

The Flite is my first experience with Bumbleride and I'm impressed!  They have created a beautiful stroller that rides nicely.  It's ability to accommodate a carry cot and an infant seat gives it the edge over any of it's competition, making it my number one choice for parents who are looking for a full featured stroller that will grow with their family.

Additional Features:

  • Accepts almost all Infant Car Seats including - Graco Snugride, Graco Snugride 32, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP 30/30, Chicco Keyfit 30, Combi Shuttle, Baby Trend Flex Loc and Britax Chaperone
  • Features an adjustable footrest
  • Duo carrying options when traveling - side handle or shoulder strap
  • Lightweight, anodized aluminum frame construction
  • Offered in 5 colors

Dimensions - 32L 19W 40H
