Mother's Amazing Sacrifice Saves Son's Life
Four months into her pregnancy, Lorraine Allard doctors informed her that she was in the advanced stages of cancer.
At that time she was advised to have end her pregnancy and start chemotherapy immediately.
She insisted on waiting longer in order to give her unborn baby a better chance telling her husband Martyn, "If I am going to die, my baby is going to live."
At 25 weeks gestation she went into preterm labour and delivered her miracle son, Liam, on November 18th, 2007. Doctors started treatment immediately after the birth, but it was too late.Lorraine passed away just weeks after her sons arrival and only got to hold him a few times during their short time together.
Liam, who was born weighing 1lb 11oz, is expected to be strong enough to go home in March. He will join his 3 big sisters Leah, 10, Amy, 8, and Courtney, 20 months.
